What to expect from FAB 2024: Looking ahead to the flagship event from the Federation of Awarding Bodies

The Federation of Awarding Bodies are holding FAB 2024 on 25th and 26th of November. The flagship conference, exhibition and awards ceremony will celebrate the achievements of the assessment sector over the last year, discuss the latest lessons and development in the industry, and look ahead to the challenges and opportunities in the year ahead. 

Here are some of the key things to look out for at the conference. 

The big themes coming up at FAB 2024 

The conference is always home to rich discussion and timely conversations, and this year’s edition is no exception. 

Charlotte Bosworth, Chair of FAB and Managing Director of Innovate Awarding will open the conference with her keynote, and host a panel discussion on the future of UK skills and FE, following which will be a rich agenda of key themes and talking points from the event, including: 

1. Digital Transformation in assessment

Panellists form Ofqual, City & Guilds, RSL Awards, Jisc, and Hull College will tackle key questions around AI in Assessment. As AI becomes increasingly prevalent in work and life, how does our sector harness the power of technology while protecting the integrity of the assessment process? What does a truly ‘data-driven’ assessment landscape look like? 

2. The shift towards general awarding

Like many sectors, assessment is changing. As awarding associations design and delivering their qualifications, the shift towards general awarding means awarding organisations need to adapt. 

3. Protecting the sector

On the final panel of day 1, representatives from FAB, AELP, and AoC will share their thoughts on what Skills England, qualifications reform, and the curriculum and assessment review mean for the sector, and how the industry can capitalise on policy changes.
